How do you convince your parents to let you own a hamster?
ok so christmas came by and yeah sure i got good things but i wanted a pet. so after xmas i asked mymom and dad for a dog. they said no cause we already have 2! so then i asked my mommy for a hamster and she said yeah. so the day before we were going to get one i asked her to make sure she asks my dad the night before we go get it. but she didn’t so right before we went to go my mom asks my dad and he YELLA NOOOOOOOOO! gir. so i have to convince my dad to let me have one cause i have 150$ and i want to buy a hamster. all i am asking is to have permission not for him to buy it. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!! aka i am 12!
Do your research on hamsters. Have a list of names ready, monologue him constantly on the different breeds of hamsters, let him know the average costs of everything and add that you’ll pay for it all, convince any siblings you have to do the same thing. Read Hamsters for dummies and let him know all of the best qualities to look for when picking one out. Try to let him know how knowledgeable you are about hamsters without driving him crazy, and step up your participation in helping with the other pets. Know the common diseases that affect hamsters and take precautions against them. KNOW EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT HAMSTERS. Clean out the library’s references on hamsters and hog the computer looking at hamster websites. Become completely obsessed and talk about nothing else.
Every parent is different so some of these might not work, but this is what my sister and I did to get two new kittens! Good luck.

all i can suggest to you is show him you have your own money to buy the things it needs, remind him they stay in a cage that can sit in your room and he wont have to worry about seeing it. promise to keep the cage clean and make sure he is fed and has plenty of water. tell him you want a chance to show how responsible you can be and if it is an issue of him having to buy supplies when you run out of money offer to do some chores to earn the money to buy the things yourself.

It will be much easier if you keep your room neat, help around the home such as cooking and cleaning. Be the best son [I'm thinking Bro is male] anyone would proud of. They will see that you are carrying your own weight and will likely take good care of a pet.

since i was a little girl i have always had a big heart for animals. i wanted all different kinds. i had scoprions, hamsters, salamanders, dogs, cats, ferrets, bats, ect. but everytime i got a new pet my dad would always say "oh no! not another one!" now that i am an adult with my own child, i understand now what he was really saying…. he was saying "not another responsibility!, or not another mouth to feed!" which is what your dad is doin. your 12 so your parents are still doin chores for you. making you food, cleaing the house for you, the toilet, the car, the yard, etc. you may have to help with these chores but you are not responsible for all of them. your mom and dad are. and on top of that you already have 2 dogs. even if they are not your dogs, your dad still looks at them as 2 extra responsiblilities. now you want a hamster? what i suggest is that you start taking up some extra chores, and help out more around the house. all the time, not just for a while. especially with the dogs. make them your resonsibility even if they are not. in a few weeks or so your dad will appreciate your help and also see that you are responsible enough to take on another pet or responsibility. also here is a HINT* that will help you for the rest of your childhood. the more responsible you are to your parents, the more stuff you will be able to do and have…..
