Why wasn't his second race at Santa Anita included in the move Seabiscuit?
It is considered maybe the greatest race ever. He was small and carrying thirty more pounds than Stagehand. He was impeded at the beginning of the race and was six lengths behind the pack. He caught them took the lead and was beaten by a nose by Stagehand.

I didn’t get back to this question the other day in time to answer the person who asked if the number 10 horse in the race at Santa Anita was not Stagehand. Seabiscuit ran in the Santa Anita Handicap three times. The number ten horse in the movie was the first time (when Red Pollack could not see him coming up). The second time he was held way back and ran out of gas at the wire though he was in the lead. Third time he won after being the only champion ever to "come back". He might easily have won all three times.

Am i the only one in the world that feels so depressed over not having enough money?
I got a call from my landlady yesterday and i need to come up with $2450.00 by January 10th or else we have to get out.We have no where to go.We have no car,my husband is currently collecting unemployment he is an electrician and there just isn’t any work right now.I work 2 overnight shifts at Comfort Suites as a night auditor.We have 4 kids 3 boys who are 23,22,& 20 and a daughter who is 17 and in her last year of high school.My 20 yr old is working at our casino as a blackjack,poker,craps,roulette dealer and is making good money.He lives with my cousin.My 23 yr old has worked at a summer lodge and since it is off season, he only works like 2-3 days a week.He gets paid cash daily so about 40-50 bucks a days which is just enough to buy his cigs & weed.My 22 yr old doesn’t do sh!t. Except go and clean for his aunt at her house and in exchange for cigs & weed.Seeing as she is the big weed dealer out on our rez and pretty much rolling in the dough.We live in a small 2 bedroom apartment with me & my husband having one bedroom and our girl having the other one.The two boys sleep out in the living room and have turned my living room into their bedroom!They do not pitch in anything for rent,food, cable, internet,or even toilet paper,shampoo nothing!!I have asked, ranted, screamed and still no help whatsoever.I think they figure that as long as they split their weed with their dad it is all good.They are the reason we are so in the hole with the rent.It cost an easy 2-300.00 hundred dollars a week just to feed all of us.I have even thought of not buying groceries but then that is depriving my daughter.Man it was so nice when it was just me,her & my husband when we 1st moved in here.I can’t even just enjoy sitting in my living room cuz it more like just sitting in their bedroom which is always a mess,But my husband won’t let me say anything to them cuz might hurt their feelings,I am just so depressed and feel so hopeless.I am never going to come up with the $2400 i owe in back rent by the 10th of January.I don’t know what is going to come of us.I have terrible credit so there is no chance of getting a loan. Your son’s need to quit smoking pot and grow the "f" up.. ya know. I would probably have to kick them out. They are old enough and should have their OWN place. I moved out when I was 18 years old and I have the best parents in the world. My sister is kinda like your sons. They ONLY difference is that she lives with my parents. She is 23 and on drugs and has a five year old son that my parents pretty much raises. It makes me sick. When he was in diapers, THEY bought them and worse of all even changed him. He would wake up with the pissest diaper ever and my mom would have to change him every time. I stopped there so many times to visit and just wnated to punch my sister.. He even calls my parents his mom and dad. That is sad, isn’t it?

I feel sorry for you, your husband and daughter. You daughter is 17 and shouldn’t have to live like that. Maybe she needs to try to find a job and save up money and get her own car since you or your husband don’t have one. I couldn’t imagine not having a vehicle. I have had a car since I turned 16 and I am 27 years old now and couldn’t imagine.

Why don’t you guys have a car paid for or saved up money all of these years?? I know that electricians make alot of money and you should have something to show for it! I am sure you husband can find SOMETHING to do to make money. Have you tried to apply for food stamps? Alot of people are doing it and if you need help, you NEED help. You have your 17 year old daughter and you might get over $500 a month in foodstamps and you can save that on two weeks worth of food and pay on your bills with that. Do you guys have HUD where you live? You can apply and I know here that they pay your rent for you and even give you a check to pay on your power bill if you don’t have get any income. Some places it takes a while to get on it after signing up though, but I know a girl who is on HUD right now, because she got laid off.

Life is getting really rough right now. Not just for you, but everyone. At least you don’t have grandkids to support, also or it would be really rough. Hopefully your daughter keeps straight and goes to college and makes something of herself. She can get grants and help on her boarding and stuff.

You could try writing to Ellen, Oprah, ect, but think about it.. How many of those letters do you think they get a day and emails, too.. You know they get tons of them, but you never know… They might do a show on economy and might just pick your letter.. It is kinda like winning the lottery though. You have a slim chance, but it might just be worth it!

I hope you get your life straightened out soon! I am so sorry to hear what you are going through and your family, too. If you ever need someone to talk to, you can email me w hen your bored or something. I am sorry I can’t help, but sometimes you just need to let it all out like you did and just vent out everything! What a pack of losers. I’d tell you that you need to get away from them but I doubt that you would. You seem to be the only one that’s worried about the money problem.

1: Cigs cost a ton nowadays. Sounds like each person is a pack a day smoker. That costs about 50 or more per week per smoker. Hubby+2 sons = 150 a week. Half of your grocery bill. Just to smoke. I used to smoke. I know how hard it is.

2: your grocery bill is 200-300 because these tokers have the constant munchies. In my family of 5, it costs up to about $150 a week, ocassionally going up to $200 a week for food.

3: Everyone is feeling the pinch nowadays. I’m employed, but my pay is down 20% due to pay cuts. I haven’t had a raise in years, and the cost of living only goes up.

You aren’t the only one. But it sounds like you are the only one working or even doing anything in your household. Everyone else only cares about themselves and getting high. This might be a stern wake up call for you, that you might need to make a more major lifestyle change in order to survive.

Are there any possible meanings to this dream?
I was talking with some guy. He told me that we, meaning me and some other girl with black hair I didn’t recognise, were supposed to kill a redheaded japaneese vampire. The red-headed guy vampire had supposedly killed one of the members of our vampire gang, and to top it off he was part of a rival gang of vampires. It was night and there was a full moon. It was slightly foggy out and the road I was driving down was completely deserted. We went to this tiny restauraunt that the guy-vamp was supposed to frequent. Being an idiot I almost entered through the exit door but managed to correct myself before actually doing so. Me and my fried sat at a booth. We bickered like siblings over stupid shit for a few moments and then I commented on her strange choice of makeup. Blue patches covered her face in different areas. Then something happened and we realised that everyone in the room with us were part of the rival gang and that they knew who we were. A blonde chick and a brunette girl jumped up and the four of us sguared off. My friend went off to the side to fight the brunette and I was stuck with the blonde. Someone said something about us being the new nemises and I replied by saying that I didn’t do the whole nemises thing and that I just wanted to kill the guy who killed my friend. The blonde came at me. She managed to shove her hand in my chest and to wrap her fingers around my heart. I grabbed her throat with one hand and used the other to grab the arm she had grabbing my heart. The sound of the other two fighting was very loud. As the blonde began to squeeze my heart she morphed into my friend Tina and everything went into slow motion. Inside of me I screamed Tina Noooooooo!!!! But no sound escaped my lips. I bit her on the wrist of the hand she had on my heart, and in doing so I semi-woke up because I was biting the blanket. But I was still half asleep so the dream continued. She squealed and let go and I ripped her throat out with my mouth. I felt bad about it because I hadn’t wanted to kill her, just my friend’s murderer. She fell to the floor, dead, and I leaped up onto the table top and shouted "anyone else want to fuck with me?!!!" Everyone froze and was staring at me. Even this blonde guy that seemed familiar, but who’s face was blurred out was staring at me. Then I woke up.

Self esteem problem, help before I go crazy?
So, I have this problem with feeling ugly all the time. My boyfriend is so prefect that it scares me he’ll find someone else because I’m not beautiful enough… We’ve been together for nine months now and we’ve been planning out our future, which is coming at us so quickly. We’ve planned out our careers, where we’re going to college, ect… I’m afraid I’ll lose it all just for the simple fact I’m ugly. He tells me I’m beautiful all the time and how I’m the most gorgeous girl alive, how no ones more perfect, how I should be a model… How I have a beautiful personality, how I have a huge heart, how I’m so nice to everyone which makes me even more beautiful… blah blah blah… That stuff is so sweet and nice! & I appreciate it so much and it does cheer me up, however at the end of the day I’m back to being scared.

I have this HUGE hatred for his ex’s Ashley and Kathryn… They text him all the time! They keep in touch with him! Supposedly he doesn’t reply/answer to them though. Hm… I’m getting fed up. I feel as if he still wants them b/c I’m not pretty enough.

I had a conversation w/ his ex Kathryn a couple months ago b/c she send him nudes. I told her a whole bunch of stuff and she said this,

"It’s not my fault you’re boyfriend comes to me ’cause he says he’s lonely & plus he asked for the pictures. You can have your cheating boyfriend! You say he’s faithful but obviously he’s not. That hurt and I didn’t know what to believe, I thought she was jealous of our relationship, then I thought it was true, I have so many mixed feelings.

I think she was just saying that to cause trouble in your relationship. If he didnt like you, he wouldnt be with you. If he didnt like you, it would show. He wouldnt be telling you you’re beautiful (which I think you are really pretty), and he would be slowly distancing himself from you if anything. Maybe all the things he’s telling you, she’s mad because she’s not hearing them herself.

If you two are planning your futures together, he might consider blocking her number. Nothing good will come from her it sounds like.

How do you deal with a bossy work colleague?
I work in a school office on reception there are a few other people who work in the back office. The office manager has gone away for a few weeks so the assistant manager is filling her shoes, meanwhile one of the other ladies who usually only work 3 days a week has increased her days and is covering the assistant managers role. Well this lady is a loud mouth at the best of times but she is becoming even more bossy and controlling.

Usually I get on ok with her but since she is now "acting assistant manager" for the next two months she is really starting to try and interfere with everything. For example if someone comes to the front desk to ask me something she pipes up and butts in, like I can’t deal with it. Also as its a girls school we get the girls coming to the front desk asking for various things, sometimes they are a bit cheeky but I can handle them and manage to control them, but she keeps dominating the situation. She is really hard on the girls and expcts us to all be like hitler to them. Yes I have got a softer approach to them but I get the same results. I work with another lady on reception but its like we can’t be left to get on with the job and judge situations ourselves. I mean I know when I am out of my depth and need support and I know if I am stuck I have no problem askng for help but she keeps taking over.

I have been doing the job for over a year now, I have had two reviews and been told I am doing well so its not like I don’t know what I am doing. She is on this big mission to show she can sort out office out but she is becoming a controlling bully. Bossing everyone around. The thing is she is good friends with the lady who is covering the manager so I can’t really talk to her about it as they socialise together and they are always whispering (well she is whispering to her).

Why do people always want to be on control of others and be like this, I mean you can be a good manager without being a bully can’t you?

meantime continue being you, your work performance is no issue as you have stated. So when she does come galloping to the front desk, just act as though she is not there, or pause keeping eye contact with the person you are talking to, then carry on when she has finished her sentence as though she has said nothing at all. That is kind of an ego prick if you follow what I mean.

Grin, bear it and grind your teeth. But keep your normal even pace, and carry on as you always do. It is kind of pointing out her brashness in a way.
